Dr. Sue Grand has been practicing couples, family, and individual therapy for 40 years. She provides a welcoming setting for those who feel like outsiders in their world. As an expert in trauma, she has a gentle, down-to-earth approach which reduces shame, heals self-esteem, and repairs relationship trouble. Sue encourages her patients to listen to their own story, and to tell their own story. Devoted to healing emotional trauma, Sue's clinical work also focuses on her patients' bodily pain and ailments, to enhance the health of the whole patient. Sue believes in the healing qualities of compassion and attachment. She facilitates self-love and the capacity to empathize with the other. For decades, Sue has been thinking about personal, collective and cultural trauma. In her writing, speaking, and teaching, she uses an inter-disciplinary lens. She engages with politics, history, literature, ethics, trauma theory and psychoanalysis. Throughout all of this clinical and academic work, Sue pursues her mission: the healing of our wounded selves and our wounded world.
